THE HISTORY

Formed in 1978 by founders Don Pearson and Howard Danchik, UltraSound has been one of the leading providers for audio services spanning 4 decades. Born out of the thriving San Francisco music scene of the 60’s and 70’s, UltraSound quickly became known for our innovative approach to concert sound and system design. Don Pearson, or Dr. Don as he was known by his peers, played a leading role in the development of some of today’s most common tools for system deployment and tuning. Gaining recognition from some of San Francisco’s leading artists, UltraSound took on the task of providing audio services for the Grateful Dead in 1978. As one of the first true stadium rock bands,
The Grateful Dead and UltraSound became known for delivering high quality audio experiences to audiences around the country. Through the years UltraSound has provided services for The Grateful Dead, Dave Matthews Band, Outside Lands Music Festival Main Stage, Volbeat, Godsmack, Tracy Chapman, The San Francisco Symphony, The Warfield Theater, Primus, Bob Dylan, Yes, The San Francisco Opera, The Lumineers, Michael Franti and Spearhead, The Fox Theater Oakland and many more. Other events credited over the years include providing sound reinforcement for Woodstock '94 and the Olympic Village in Atlanta in 1996.
